Here we go again…

Renato Sanches is joining Manchester United – even though the teenager still hasn’t signed an actual deal with the Red Devils – report Portuguese paper Record this Wednesday.

Indeed, Record have headlined their article today as ‘Renato has his bags packed for Manchester’.

The main thrust of Record’s article is to announce that Man United and Benfica had reached a gentleman’s agreement over the transfer of the highly sought after teenager.

To be clear, a gentleman’s agreement is not a binding contract.

Some crucial details, including the transfer fee, are yet to be finalised between the clubs. Benfica are seeking 40 million euros for their midfielder in an initial payment, as well as an extra 20 million euros in bonuses based on Sanches’ future performances. What’s clear is that Man United want to pay less.

Record, however, assure their readers that “nothing should stop” the transfer from happening this summer.

Is Sanches the new Nico Gaitan? Or will this deal actually come to fruition?

And where does this deal leave Memphis Depay and Adnan Januzaj? One suspects they should start looking for new clubs sooner rather than later.
