Leicester top at Christmas, punter wins amazing 1000/1 bet

A picture has been doing the rounds for a while of a bet that was so absurd at the beginning of the season that you just don’t even know who would take it on.

For those of you who asked in recent days what are the odds Leicester would be top at Christmas, the answer was 1000/1 at the beginning of 2015/2016.

And, Leicester secured their spot as top on Christmas with an excellent 3-2 win at Everton on Saturday.

Riyad Mahrez’s penalty opener was equalised by in-form Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.

Mahrez made it 2-1 from another penalty before Shinji Okzaki scored Leicester’s third, which became crucial when substitute Kevin Mirallas pulled it back to 3-2 late on.

The Leicester fan in question, made a £5 bet on the 8th of August that his beloved Foxes would be top of the League at Christmas.

At incredible odds of 1000/1. Amazing stuff!
